Trophy for the SCI Middle East International Award

From South Tyrol to Doha: A trophy that unites craftsmanship and global prestige

When the international business and economic community gathers in Doha for the prestigious SCI Middle East International Award, it is not only the award itself that takes center stage but also the trophy “Al Shaheen” that embodies it. This year, the artwork comes from South Tyrol: goldsmith and designer Hannes Gamper had the honor of designing the official trophy for the 2025 edition. The trophy was masterfully crafted over many dedicated hours by Florian Oberhofer, goldsmith and technical production manager at Tiroler Goldschmied

For Gamper, this commission carried special meaning. From the very beginning, he envisioned creating a symbol that would convey both elegance and global relevance. The result is a trophy made of fine brass, whose clean lines embody timeless aesthetics. It is crowned with a rotating globe – a technically sophisticated detail that also reflects the award’s central message: internationality, excellence, and the unifying power of craftsmanship and entrepreneurship.

The creation of the trophy was a process in which traditional goldsmithing merged with modern design ideas. More than 40 working hours went into its production. With patience, precision, and a fine sense of materiality, Florian Oberhofer succeeded in crafting an object that is both a work of art and a symbol of distinction.

Before the grand gala on September 12, the trophy was carefully shipped to Doha, where it was ceremoniously presented to the winners. For the Tiroler Goldschmied, this moment represented not only international recognition but also confirmation that artisanal excellence from a small Alpine region can capture worldwide attention.

Thus, the SCI Middle East International Award 2025 is not only a prize honoring entrepreneurial achievements but also an ambassador of South Tyrolean craftsmanship – a creation that demonstrates how creativity, passion, and precision can transcend borders and be celebrated across the globe.
